Despacito from Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi, and Daddy Yankee became the song most streamed within less than six weeks. It was a combination of pop and reggaeton which not only brought attention to Latin Music but as well reggaeton. Billboard's Top 100 included four mostly Spanish songs from 2016 compared with two for 2015. At the height of Despacito's popularity 19, 19 songs mostly in Spanish made it to the Top 100. The year 2020 will see it will have 41 songs within this genre. Following Justin Bieber's bilingual remix to Despacito (2017) famous artists soon began collaborating with reggaeton artists, including Drake along with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) and Madonna and Maluma on Medellin (2019). The year 2000 saw a number of reggaeton performers were lamenting the genre's direction toward the mainstream but a new generation, led by Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep reggaeton evolving. The genre often incorporated electronic dance and other styles.
