Zoe Saldana was born on the 19th of June, 1978, in Passaic, New Jersey, to Asalia Nazario and Aridio Saldana. Both her parents have both been Puerto Ricans. Her family was raised by her mother who lived in Queens. Her family relocated from Queens in New York, to the Dominican Republic when she was 10; they lived in the Dominican Republic for 7 years. Zoe noticed a strong passion for dancing while living abroad. She started training at ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy in order to master ballet and a variety of different dance styles. Her training was not only a great opportunity for this energetic and enthusiastic youngster but also a good way to prepare her for an acting profession.
